New Jersey Attorneys Fighting for Injury Victims
As many of you are probably aware, we live in uncertain and dangerous times. In the first six months of 2007, the crime statistics for most of the categories in New Jersey either went up or remained at the same levels. In the few statistics that went down, the drop was so small as to be negligible.
What bears watching are the numbers of rapes and burglaries, many of which happen in hotels or apartment complexes. While we have been conditioned by Hollywood to think of criminals as masterminds that can easily break through security systems, the vast majority of burglars and rapists simply take advantage of opened doors, broken or burnt out lights, and poor security services.
When you rent an apartment or stay at a hotel, there are basic security measures that should be in place to guarantee the safety of tenants and guests. These include working locks on doors and windows, well lit parking areas, lobbies and hallways, and proper security at doors that serve as common entries.
Tenants and guests are supposed to get more than a bed, roof and running water from their landlords or hotel owners. They are also supposed to have their basic security taken care of. If a robbery or rape is allowed to occur due to a broken or substandard lock, a broken light or a security guard that wasn’t performing his duties, then the landlord or hotel owner has directly contributed to the occurrence of the crime.
The attorneys at Brunnock and Fleming have decades of experience in fighting for the rights of those that have been injured due to the negligence of others. We have successfully represented those who have sustained injuries while on someone else’s property. This includes slip and fall injuries as well as premises liability due to a lack of security.
If you or a loved one has been injured due to the actions of someone else, contact our offices for a free legal consultation today.
